ELLSWORTH AFB, S.D. — A retirement ceremony was held for MSgt. Kimberly Geffre, formerly of Caribou on May 22. U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Edward Lucas officiated during the program which was attended by Geffre’s mother, Sandy Drake of Presque Isle, in addition to other family members, friends and service personnel.
Following the ceremony, Geffre’s mother was presented with a U.S. flag that had been flown over the U.S. capitol.
Geffre and her husband Mark, who is on active duty at Ellsworth AFB, reside in Rapid City, S.D. with their daughter Jamie, 12 and son Garrett, 10. Prior to her retirement, MSgt Geffre was a law office superintendent overseeing an 18-member staff.
The Geffres were both deployed in 2008; Kim to Iraq for five months and Mark to Honduras for one year. Since retirement, Kim has returned to college in a master’s degree program and works full-time as a civil servant at the same law office.
Geffre’s Air Force career began in 1989 as an information manager at RAF Mildenhall, England. She was selected as Junior Information Manager of the Year in 1991 for U.S. Air Forces Europe.
Geffre’s father, Bernard Rediker, lives in Mississippi.

RETIRES — Caribou native Kim (Rediker) Geffre of Rapid City, S.D. recently retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. Officiating during the May 22 ceremony was Lt. Col Edward Lucas, far left. Members of the Ellsworth AFB Color Guard also took part in the event.
