Palmer and LaJoie earn athlete of week honors
The Varsity Club and Bid Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Alecia Palmer and Issac LaJoie for being selected as athletes of the week for the week of Oct. 26-31.

Palmer placed second in the Class B regional Cross Country Championship, leading her team to a fourth-place finish and qualifying for the Class B state meet.
LaJoie scored two goals, including the game winner in overtime, to lead the boys varsity soccer team past Mt. View in the Class B regional semi-finals.

PI Atoms open hockey season
The Presque Isle Atoms youth hockey team, sponsored by Cary Medical Center/Pines Health Center, played a pair of games over the weekend.
On Saturday in Perth-Andover against Southern Victoria II, the two teams battled to a 4-4 tie. Heinz Schumacher was PI’s goalie and Ryan Player scored his first career goal. Eric Benson, Sarah Beaulieu and Alex Brewer also scored for the local squad, with Isaac Madore and Thomas Patenaude picking up assists.
At home on Sunday, Southern Victoria I earned a 9-7 victory over the PI team. Patenaude scored five of his team’s goals, while Player and Brewer netted one each. Greyson Sonntag, Denny Young, Tyler Levesque, Beaulieu, Gregory Jellison and Austin Bouchard all had assists. Schumacher faced 28 shots in goal for Presque Isle.

Season tickets on sale at PIHS
The Presque Isle High School Athletics Department has announced that season passes for girls varsity basketball, boys varsity basketball and varsity ice hockey are now available to be purchased at the athletics office.
Anyone with a reserved seat last year can renew those seats through Dec. 23. After that date, reserved seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee is $30 for basketball, $25 for hockey and $50 for a combination pass.
Season pass holders will be admitted to all regular season home games only.

Hot Shot Shoot Outcompetition at UMPI
Adults and children alike are invited to test their skills while helping a worthy cause as the University of Maine at Presque Isle hosts a basketball shoot-out competition on Monday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. Registration begins at 7 p.m., in the Gentile Hall gym.
The Hot Shot Shoot Out offers various divisions for individuals and teams, with free T-shirts given to the first 50 adult participants and the first 50 age 17 and under participants. Just a few of the prizes which can be won are ski passes to Big Rock, tickets to UMaine sports events and pizza from Big Cheese Pizza.
The Shoot Out is a fundraiser for UMPI’s Outdoor Adventure Program International (OAPI) to help fund their spring trip. For further information, call 768-9401.

Dinner-auction planned by youth hockey group
Presque Isle Youth Hockey is sponsoring a Carbo Night Dinner & Auction on Friday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Presque Isle. Eat a spaghetti feed with Eastern Maine champion Presque Isle High School hockey team and wish them luck in their first home game of the season against Brewer the following day at the Forum.
Dinner is $5 per person, with an auction to follow. Some items to be auctioned include snow boards, flooring, a Lionel train set, a massage, Zumba lessons, carwashes and more. Tickets can be purchased at Bradley’s in Presque Isle or at the door. Proceeds will benefit youth hockey.
