Greiner, Elizabeth Tyrrell Morrison, 92, Presque Isle, in Presque Isle, November 13, 2009. Services will be private for the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.

 

    Presque Isle – Elizabeth Tyrrell Morrison Greiner, 92, wife of the late Colonel William Lang Greiner Jr. (Ret), passed away Friday morning, November 13, 2009, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, after a brief illness. She was born September 25, 1917, in Creighton Mines, Ontario, the daughter of George A. and Edith (Lennox) Morrison.
    Elizabeth was a graduate of the Dormont High School, Dormont, PA, Class of 1935, and received a BA degree in Arts and Letters from Penn State University in 1939. Elizabeth was married to Colonel William Lang Greiner Jr. on February 3, 1940. While residing in Pennsylvania, Mrs. Greiner had been employed as a children’s librarian at the Ross Library in Lock Haven, PA. She also worked as a children’s social worker in Clinton County, PA, was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Lock Haven, PA, a charter member of the Lock Haven Book Club, and a member of the Lock Haven Garden Club. A resident of Presque Isle since 2006, Mrs. Greiner was a member of the Presque Isle Garden Club, and was an avid reader and gardener. She was an accomplished seamstress, an award-winning knitter, and will be remembered for making the best “sticky buns” in the world. She was currently a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fort Fairfield, ME.
    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Greiner was predeceased by her husband on July 28, 1989; one sister, Alicia M. Thompson. She is survived by one daughter, Edith Katherine Greiner of Presque Isle; two sons, William Lang Greiner III and his wife Doris A. of Forty Fort, PA, George M. Greiner and his wife Jan. B. of Otis, MA; five grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    In keeping with Elizabeth’s wishes, services will be private for the family. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Greiner to the Turner Memorial Library, c/o Bonnie Smith, 39 Second Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769 or to the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, c/o Gloria Towle, P.O. Box 737, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, Maine.
