Family, classmates and friends filled the Southern Aroostook Community School last Saturday morning for Jarrica Emery’s funeral service. A somber and quiet mood filled the room during a heart wrenching ceremony, as one source described it declining to be named. An estimated 530 people attended.
Emery was a senior at the high school where she was eulogized for her efforts to help others, always having a smile and always trying to cheer people up.
The service was officiated by Father Dave Raymond, pastor of St. Mary of the Visitation in Houlton and Pastor Ben Greene of the Island Falls Baptist Church. Burial at St. Agnes Cemetery in Island Falls  followed the service.
The 17-year-old honor student died at the scene of a tragic accident December 15. She had lost control of her car on Route 2, slid across her lane and was broadsided by a tractor trailer traveling in the opposite direction on the icy road. (See Page 4 for full obituary.)
