LIMESTONE — Small ‘comforts’ can make a large difference in a time of crisis, and members of the Limestone United Methodist Church are currently collecting Health Kits for survivors of the earthquake that recently shook Haiti; for someone who has nothing, a toothbrush and a clean towel can make a big difference. The small kits, which can be assembled relatively inexpensively, can be delivered to the Limestone United Methodist Church located at 52 Main Street or the parsonage at 2 Burleigh Ave. From there, the kits will be shipped to the United Methodist Committee of Relief site at Sager-Brown, Baldwin, LA.
Each kit will find its way into the hands of someone in need of simple hygienic items.
Packages should include:
• One hand towel, between 15 inches by 25 inches up to 17 inches by 27 inches (not a kitchen towel)
• One washcloth
• One large comb (not pocket-sized)
• One nail file or fingernail clippers (not Emory boards or toenail clippers)
• One bath-sized bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
• One adult sized toothbrush in its original wrapper
• One large tube of toothpaste (with an expiration date that doesn’t expire within the next six months)
• Six adhesive plastic bandages
Items are to be placed in a one-gallon plastic bag and sealed. Health kits will be accepted at the church until Feb. 14.
