Ricker Rumblings
by Lois Downing
Hello everyone again. Thought I should get back on the job after an absence. Have suffered with a cold and laryngitis so stayed in away from people.
Jeff is back—Thibodeau. First he went to California to visit his sister and then he went to Florida to visit his parents, Martin and Muriel Thibodeau who live in the Village. Had a good time and we are glad to see him back and on the job.
We have a new swing or if it isn’t new, it is just relocated. The tree that was in front of the front doors is where one of the swings is now. I like it—it looks nice and is very useful there.
Our church, St. Mary of the Visitation, is having a senior get-together on Wednesday, May 3. Just bring a sandwich and join the others at noon in the prish center. If you want and can, bring a guest and socialize. It will be worth your while, I promise.
A friend died the other day—Vilda Adams. Vilda was a godly person, as the minister said, and she showed and practiced it. Her three daughters and sisters will miss her, as will the community. Vilda did a lot of good work in and around her. Many accolades were going her way and the program reflected her life. God bless you, Vilda and may you rest in peace.
The Southern RSVP Gazette has been in the mail. It is good reading so I am always happy to receive mine.
Paul Armstrong was in Unity on Saturday with a member of his family to a meeting. Edith, Helen Brewer’s sister, from Massachusetts has been visiting her for most of the week. She has returned now to her home.
There is a list on the downstairs bulletin board for tenants to sign their name for a garden spot (either flowers or vegetables) in back of Ricker. Paul Armstrong said he would help anybody who needs help. There’s your chance.
Some of the ladies have been on the sick list. Better now. Our parish book published after our pictures were taken, is in publication. It is fun for us to put names to faces now.
Marie Wright, one of my friends, has moved to Four Seasons. Her report is that she likes it.
My Bible quote for the week is: “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:25).
Have a good week and stay well.
