HOULTON — Time is running out to purchase the new Houlton Agricultural Fair coupon books which replace the photo passes of past years.
“You’d better hurry now and save some money because after Monday, they will no longer be available,” said Paul Cleary, president of the Houlton Fair Association. “The cost is $20 without rides and $32 with rides. If you wait and pay at the gate all four days it would cost you $40. So, you save a minimum of $8 with the coupon books,” said Cleary.

MEASURE FOR MEASURE — At Community Park, strategic planning is going into placement of vendor spaces since more booths will be setup this year. From left are, Aaron Bither, Steve Bither, Jane Torres and Paul Cleary.
New fair events
The fair will have two fireworks shows. The first will be on Thursday to celebrate “Kids Day” and the second will be on Sunday, July 4 with the regular fireworks show. “The fireworks are a big draw. We’re starting the fair and ending the fair with a bang,” Cleary explained.
Among the new attractions are local bands that will perform on the baseball field. DoubleTap, Live Music, Head Space and Kirbside Prophet will each take a turn separately in concert on successive nights starting Thursday.
Cleary added that new acts include Vertical Outlaws whose motorcycle stunt shows with flips and big jumps should thrill fairgoers.
Ticket sales this year so far “are really good,” according to Cleary who said advance coupon booklets are still available at Aroostook Milling, the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce, York’s Bookstore and online at www.houltonfair.com.
This Saturday, June 19, volunteers will sell the coupons in Market Square during the farmer’s market. For more information, call 532-4315.
