Saturday’s bike parade winners were Neve Guerrette in the two and under category, Asher Carter in the 3-5-year olds, and there was a tie in the 6-8-year old category between cousins Gunner Carter and Chase Guerrette. Victoria Williamson was named the winner in the 9-12 category.
During the popular watermelon eating contest, winners were named in four age groups. The 3-6-year old winner was Asher Carter, 7-8-year old winner was Meg Casavant; 9-10-year old winner was Victoria Williamson, and 11-12-year old winner was Tristen Woodworth.
Children of all ages also enjoyed playing games, hunting for toys in the haystack, pony rides, the petting zoo, hula hoop contest, bungee bull riding, and the jumping castles. The Mapleton Daze Committee would like to extend their apologies regarding the additional inflatable attractions. Due to last-minute circumstances beyond their control, those were not available for the weekend. The Committee wishes to thank all for those who continue to support this annual event!

Lucas Boucher, son of Riki and Wendy Boucher, graduated from Presque Isle High School June 11. On June 19, Lucas and several other students from PIHS flew to Kansas City to compete in the National Skills USA competitions, competing with 15,000 students from all over the United States. They had a wonderful trip and returned home Saturday, June 26 with one silver medal and one gold medal. Congratulations to all Skills USA members and their advisers!
The Mapleton, Chapman, Castle Hill Senior Citizens gathered one last time before their summer recess for their annual strawberry shortcake. Twenty-five local seniors met at Maple Tree Estates to visit and enjoy the popular summer treat with berries from the SAD 1 School Farm. The group does not meet during the summer months, but will resume their meetings starting in October. Meetings are held on Mondays at Maple Tree Estates and new members are welcome!
The camping season is now upon us, and the staff is extremely excited about the upcoming weeks at camp to witness to the campers and have a great time doing it! There are a number of exciting activities and Bible lessons planned. The park will be offering laser tag and has a new low ropes course!
If you have not registered your child(ren), you are encouraged you to do soon, so the park may plan accordingly. By registering 10 days early, you can save $25 on your child’s registration fee. Encourage your children to invite as many friends as possible! What better place for your children to spend a week than Christian camping at Baptist Park!

• July 11-16: Maxed Out Adventure (ages 9-12). $205 if pre-registration is postmarked by July 1; otherwise $25 more.
• July 18-23: Outpost Wilderness Camp (ages 13-17). $205 if pre-registration is postmarked by July 8; otherwise $25 more.
• July 18-20: Growing Up Adventure (ages 6-8). $99.
• July 23 (Fri.): Small Fry Fun Day (ages 4-5). $30.
• July 24 (Sat.): Puddle Jumpers Day Camp (ages 6-7). $30.
• July 25-30: Lifting Off Camp (ages 11-14). $205 if pre-registration is postmarked by July 15; otherwise $25 more.

The Mapleton United Baptist Church will be hosting Vacation Bible School at the church July 19-23 from 12:30-3 p.m. with a closing program scheduled for Friday, July 23 at 3 p.m. The weeklong Bible school will be once again led by Josh and Melanie Duncan. All children ages 4-10 are welcome to attend. Older youth are encouraged to volunteer as helpers.
The United Methodist Church will be hosting its weekly luncheon Friday, July 9 at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
