The Fort Fairfield girls recaptured their winning ways this past week, recording convincing victories over both Limestone-MSSM (9-1) last Tuesday and Wisdom (4-1) on Monday. The Tigers have a 5-4 record and coach Kerrie Alley’s team is currently in sixth place in the Eastern Maine Class D standings with a tournament index of 13.4184.

Washburn still leads the way in the standings with a 7-3-1 mark and 39.4309 tournament index. Limestone is ninth at 2-5 and a 1.9898 tournament index.
On the boys’ side, the Tigers eased past Limestone-MSSM last Tuesday, 6-1, before being doubled up by Wisdom at St. Agatha Monday by a score of 8-4. Fort Fairfield, under coach John Ala, now stands at 3-5-1 and is in fifth place in EM ‘D’ with a 9.4005 tournament index.
The Beavers of Washburn won two of three last week and are 7-3-1 overall and in fourth place at 25.4209 tourney index points. The Limestone-MSSM Eagles are still looking to break into the win column for the first time. The team is at 0-6 and buried in last place in the ‘D’ rankings.
Summaries of games played through Monday follow:
Ashland girls 2, Washburn 0 – Brooke LaBelle scored twice, both in the first half, as Ashland came up with a big road win Monday afternoon.
Kayla Cote had the assist on both LaBelle goals. Goalie Macie Bellanceau had six saves on eight shots for the Hornets.
The Beavers’ goalkeeper, Rayah Saucier, turned away six of 11 shots in the contest.
Fort Fairfield girls 4, Wisdom 1 – Janae Libby scored two goals Monday as the Tigers swept their season series against the Pioneers. Logan Bubar scored a goal and recorded an assist and Kylie Plourde also notched a goal for the victors, who recorded 33 shots in the match.
FF goalkeeper Katie Donovan saved 17 of 21 shots. Wisdom’s lone goal came on a penalty kick by Suzie Collins in the first half.
Southern Aroostook girls 1, Washburn 0 – Rockwell’s second-half goal proved to be the difference as the Warriors beat the Beavers Friday in a battle between two of the top teams in EM Class D. Washburn held a 20-14 advantage in shots on goal, but could not get a shot past SA goalie Mallary Lawlor.
Central Aroostook girls 2, Limestone-MSSM 0 – Kristen Long posted a first-half goal and assisted on Vicki McIntyre’s second-half goal as the Panthers blanked the visiting Eagles Thursday. Rachael Grew recorded the assist on Long’s goal and Paige Garrison saved seven of eight shots for the shutout. Autumn Beauchamp collected 10 saves on 24 shots in goal for the Eagles.
Washburn girls 4, Easton 0 – The Beavers got two goals off the foot of Rebecca Campbell, both off assists by Carmen Bragg, as they downed the home team Bears in convincing fashion last Wednesday. Meagan Saucier and Taylor Thompson also scored for Washburn. Rayah Saucier was busy in goal, making 17 saves on 36 shots for the shutout.
Parlin and Haley Ambrose split the goalie chores for Easton and combined for 19 saves on 41 shots.
Fort Fairfield girls 9, Limestone-MSSM 1 – A four-goal performance by freshman Logan Bubar lifted the Tigers to the blowout win last Tuesday in Fort Fairfield.
Kacie York, Libby, Plourde, Abby Player and Kelsey Turner also had goals for Fort. Donovan faced just eight shots in the game and saved four of them.
Amanda Allen scored the lone Eagle goal and Beauchamp turned away seven of 22 shots.
Wisdom boys 8, Fort Fairfield 4 – Curtis Picard had four goals in Wisdom’s win at home over Fort Fairfield Monday.
Travis Noyes scored three times for the Tigers, while Andrew Tuck had the team’s other goal.
Washburn boys 7, Ashland 1 – Jordan McLaughlin continued his torrid scoring pace by tallying three goals in the Beavers’ victory at home over the Bears Monday. Mitchell Worcester had two goals and three assists, while Connor Fitzpatrick and Justin Farley also found the back of the net for Washburn.
Royce MacDonald scored in the second half for Ashland’ lone breakthrough of the game.
Old Town boys 2, Caribou 1 – Lucas Baillargeon netted the game-winning goal with 3:01 left as the Coyotes won Saturday on the Vikes’ home field.
Caribou had taken a 1-0 lead on freshman Matt Milliard’s first career goal with 18:30 left, but OT bounced back to tie it with 12:55 left before Baillargeon came through with his heroics.
Garrett Jordan saved 13 of 15 shots in goal for Caribou and despite his team’s 1-3-2 start, coach Mark Shea said Jordan’s play has been a plus.
“Our keeper is playing really well and keeping us in most games,” Shea said. “We’ve got to do a better job winning 50-50 balls and our lack of depth is hurting us, but our senior group is working hard and our younger players are gaining valuable experience.”
Southern Aroostook boys 6, Washburn 0 – Two goals by Patrick Goodall keyed SA to the win Friday at Washburn. Zach Davis saved 10 of 18 shots in goal for the Beavers.
Madawaska boys 2, Fort Fairfield 0 – Jon Lee and Dylan Wetmore were the goal scorers as the Owls blanked the Tigers Thursday. Chris Weeks recorded 20 saves on 23 shots for the Tigers.
Central Aroostook boys 5, Limestone-MSSM 2 – The Panthers, playing at home Thursday, outshot the Eagles 31-13 and kept Limestone-MSSM winless on the year
Dan Brewer and Brandon Anthony had two goals each and Derek Rusby scored a goal and assisted on three others to lead CA’s attack.
Nate Tucker converted two penalty kicks for the Eagles. Chris Bernier and Josh Forsman shared duties in goal.
Washburn boys 6, Easton 3 – McLaughlin’s hat trick, in addition to two goals by Worcester and another by Kyle Huston, lifted the Beavers past the Bears last Wednesday.
Clark scored two goals and Jared Hafford one for the Bears.
Fort Fairfield boys 6, Limestone-MSSM 1 – Last Tuesday, Tuck had two goals and Jahleel Wiliams added a goal and two assists to power the Tigers to the win.
LaGeorge Williams, Noyes and Austin Bernier rounded out the FF offense with goals. Forsman scored the only Eagle goal.
Madawaska boys 2, Caribou 1 – The visiting Vikings dominated for the first 15 minutes of play, but couldn’t find the back of the net and the Owls picked up the momentum and gained the victory.
With second-half goals, Ian Lee and Deejay Jandreau put Madawaska up 2-0 before Dean Walker of Caribou scored an unassisted goal with five minutes to play to draw the Vikes as close as they were able to get. Jordan made 10 saves, many of them high quality stops, in goal for Caribou.
