WESTFIELD — A Presque Isle woman remains hospitalized in serious condition at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, following a two-vehicle accident in Westfield on January 24.

“On Monday, Jan. 24, at approximately 2:32 p.m., the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-vehicle personal injury accident on Route 1 in Westfield, in an area known as Buckley Hill,” said Sgt. Forrest Dudley, ACSO.

Dudley said Victoria Tracy, 20, of Presque Isle, was operating a Ford Ranger traveling north on Route 1 when she reportedly lost control of her vehicle.

“Tracy slid into the southbound lane where she was struck by a Toyota Tundra being operated by 56-year-old William O’Connell of Presque Isle. Both vehicles ended up off the roadway in a nearby driveway,” Dudley said.

Both operators were transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle.

“Ms. Tracy was flown to EMMC in Bangor, in critical condition. Mr. O’Connell sustained minor injuries and was treated and released,” said Dudley.

Both vehicles were considered a total loss.

In a phone call Tuesday, Feb. 1, an EMMC official reported Tracy’s condition had been “upgraded to serious,” but that she remained in the ICU.

Deputy Kristopher Malmborg is the primary investigator. Also assisting with the investigation: Deputies Ross McQuade and Michael Montpetit, and Trooper Robert Flynn of the Maine State Police. The Mars Hill Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

No charges will be filed in connection with the accident.

“Road conditions factored into the accident and the case remains under investigation,” said Dudley.
