PRESQUE ISLE — Poor road conditions were being blamed for two accidents Friday morning that resulted in thousands of dollars in damage.

AARON GIBERSON, of Fort Fairfield, took a wild ride on the Fort Road near Quoggy Jo in Presque Isle, Jan. 28, rolling his truck into the ditch when he lost control due to poor road conditions. Here, emergency personnel join Giberson to check out the damage.
The first accident the Presque Isle Police Department responded to was a call shortly after 7 a.m., Jan. 28, of a two-vehicle collision on the Caribou Road.
“We received several reports of a property-damage only motor vehicle accident on the Caribou Road near the radio station. Officer Brian McQuarrie was assigned and responded,” said Sgt. Joey Seeley, PIPD.

A TOWN TAXI won’t be picking up passengers any time soon, due to an accident Jan. 28, on the Caribou Road in Presque Isle, that caused extensive damage to the car, operated by Mary Adams, of Caribou. The accident occurred when another driver lost control and spun into the path of Adam’s vehicle.
Seeley said road conditions factored into the crash.
“Jason Belanger, 25, of Caribou, was operating a full-sized Dodge pickup, and was northbound when he reportedly felt the rear tires start to spin. He applied the brakes and lost control, sliding into the southbound lane and striking a vehicle — a Town Taxi — operated by Mary Adams, 49, of Caribou, traveling south on Route 1,” said Seeley.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

ICY ROAD CONDITIONS were being blamed for a two-vehicle accident on the Caribou Road in Presque Isle, Jan. 28, involving this truck, driven by Jason Belanger, of Caribou, and a taxi driven by Mary Adams, of Caribou.
The drivers reported only minor injuries and were checked out by emergency personnel at the scene.
A short time later, Seeley responded to a second accident — this time on the Fort Road.
“Aaron Giberson, of Fort Fairfield, called reporting he’d just been involved in a rollover on the Fort Road near Quoggy Jo. He lost control of his 2004 Ford extended-cab pickup and rolled into the ditch,” said Seeley.
Giberson was not seriously injured.
The truck sustained approximately $11,000 in damage and was towed from the scene by Cowett’s Towing Service of Presque Isle.
A mix of ice and snow covering area roads has made road conditions slick in many areas.
“Drivers should use caution whenever road conditions are questionable. If in doubt, slow down. Reducing speed prevents accidents and can save a life,” said Seeley.
