Community responds to Daffodil Days request

To the editor:
    Many thanks to the individuals and businesses in Houlton who placed orders for the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days fundraiser. Entering into this project late, there was not a lot of time to advertise, solicit orders, or organize the event, so it is especially gratifying to announce that over $1,300 was raised locally to aid cancer research.
    A special thank you to Joe Cyr and the Houlton Pioneer Times for helping get the word out to the public, to the Bangor Daily News for picking up the story, and Chadwick Florist for offering to partner with me on this venture and helping when the flowers come in.
    I don’t know of a single person who has not been touched by cancer in some way. With the help of the Daffodil Days event all over the country, millions of dollars will be raised to continue cancer research. Thank you to all of you who ordered. Flowers will be in the week of March 14th and I’ll either deliver them to you personally or call and let you know when you can pick them up.
