Seven compete for Miss title

PRESQUE ISLE — Seven young ladies will take to the stage April 30 to compete for the title of Miss Presque Isle 2011.

THE MISS PRESQUE ISLE Scholarship Pageant will be held April 30 at Presque Isle High School, with seven vying for the 2011 title.

“The Miss Presque Isle Scholarship Pageant will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Presque Isle High School Auditorium. Tickets are available from the contestants or at the door. Admission is $7,” said Betsy Fitzherbert, pageant director.

CONTESTANTS HELP HOMELESS — The Miss Presque Isle Pageant contestants did a community service project this year as part of their pageant responsibilities. They donated toys, books and games and delivered them to the homeless shelter. Executive Director Stephen Eyler, Homeless Services of Aroostook, offered a tour of the shelter and answered several questions about homelessness. Sarah Gorneault, daughter of Henry and Trudy Gorneault, will be performing a lyrical dance to Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain.”
Tia Marie Cowett is the daughter of Michael Cowett and Sherry Cowett. She will perform a hip-hop dance routine to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.”
The daughter of Suzette and Carlos da Cruz, Alecia Joy Carlose da Cruz will be doing a lyrical/jazz number to “Breakeven” by the Script.
Singing Michael Buble’s “Feeling Good” will be Sophia Willette. She is the daughter of Michael and Pamela Willette.
Julea Gorneault, daughter of Henry and Trudy Gorneault, will take to the stage to clog to “Shake It” by Metro Station.
Erica Hemphill will perform a ballet en pointe to “Faithfully” by Journey. She is the daughter of Eric and Kelly Hemphill.
Casey Bonville, daughter of Fred and Sandra Bonville, will be dancing to “King of Anything” by Sara Bareilles.
The event is sponsored by Maine Epsilon Master Sorority.
“Join us for a fun night of Latin music and support these talented young women,” said Fitzherbert.
