A tractor trailer accident April 20 in North Yarmouth Academy Grant Township which is located north of Macwahoc partially closed U.S. Route 2 for nearly four hours.
According to Maine State Police Sgt. Brian Harris, Roy McDonald, 24, of Sherman was operating a 1998 Peterbilt loaded with logs and as he rounded a sharp corner on Route 2, McDonald lost control and skidded off the side of the road. The vehicle struck a guardrail and rolled onto its side, dislodging the load of logs.
McDonald sustained cuts to his face and was transported by personal vehicle to Millinocket Hospital for treatment.
Trooper Carman Lilley responded to the accident, which occurred at 5:30 a.m. The tractor trailer is owned by McDonald and sustained severe damage. It was towed from the scene.
