CARIBOU, Maine — It’s been a full year since the Aroostook County Tourism Office first started holding their successful seasonal photography contests and the winning photographs from this year’s winter contest are just as exceptional as those of contests past.
Don Eno of Wallagrass has been chosen as the overall winner of the Aroostook County Tourism winter photo contest for his photo of a scenic sunrise over a snow covered field in Wallagrass. Other category winners include Lori Prosser of Houlton for the Wildlife category, Michael Gudreau of Presque Isle for Outdoor Recreation, Gene Cyr of Washburn for Cities & Towns and Tracey Ackerson of Woodland for Festivals & Events.
According to Leslie Jackson, regional tourism developer, the photography contests have been very successful; about 30 photos are submitted for each contest from photographers from all corners of The County — even from photographers downstate.
After the contest, photos are placed in the tourism office’s photography library to be used for marketing purposes, whether the images grace a magazine add or the side of a tourism kiosk. Photographers not only win prizes for their photos, they also maintain credit for their published and printed photos.
