LIMESTONE — Though Saturday was a touch on the cold side (even by northern Maine standards) a handful of outdoor enthusiasts braved winter on Jan. 14 to make tracks at the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge in Limestone.

Linda Gover and Carol Beil, at right, enjoyed their wintery trek through the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge on Jan. 14 during the “Snowshoe for the New You” program offered by the refuge’s Friends group.

The snowshoeing event was orchestrated by the Friends of the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge in conjunction with their Second Saturday series, which aims to offer a different fun and educational event at the refuge on the second Saturday of every month.

According to the group’s secretary, Joanne Worthen of Limestone, “the wind was not that bad in the woods.”
