Christian Academy update

To the editor:

Cornerstone Christian Academy’s whirlwind winter is spinning forward into spring as tremendous progress is being made at the new school building site on Route One south of Presque Isle.

The roof and windows are now installed and the walls are up and insulated. The concrete floor is being poured this month and will be followed quickly by the plumbing and electrical. Volunteers have already done some work on insulation, and the first big crews of volunteer school supporters will be starting in April to make the classrooms. Board Chairman Andy Yaeger is delighted at how smoothly things are going in advance of the grand opening of the building for the 2012-13 school year in August. “Six months ago we didn’t know where we were for getting the building ready for next Fall. Now we are pouring the floor, and it’s all happening. It’s just wonderful. God’s hand has definitely been in this project.”

In other news, Cornerstone will be adding a ninth-grade class in the fall, in anticipation of expanding to a full high school over the next few years. Interim Principal Angela Wardwell explains that “We are just in the planning stages for scheduling and curriculum, but will be ready for start of classes in August.” Also the search is well on for the new permanent principal and there are multiple excellent candidates from around the country. Mr. Yaeger believes that the new person will be selected and in place by early May.

It has truly been an exciting winter at Cornerstone Christian Academy, and everyone there has appreciated the widespread support that has been coming from the people and communities of

Aroostook County.
