Cookie Share program a sweet treat for Veterans

Approximately 100 area Girl Scouts took part in the “Cookie Share” program during their 2012 Cookie Sale by asking customers if they would like to purchase an extra box of cookies to be donated to Maine veterans. The generous community participation in the Cookie Share program enable 36 cases of Girl Scout cookies to be delivered to the Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou.

The Girl Scouts and MVH expressed their thanks to the community for their generous support.

“The local Girl Scout Troops would like to thank all of those who helped make this possible,” said Girl Scout Troop Leader Laura St. Pierre. “We were overwhelmed and surprised by the great participation the Girl Scouts received from the community — thank you!”

The cookies were delivered to Maine Veterans’ Home on May 11.

“We are amazed with the generosity of the community and the Girl Scouts,” said Melissa Graham, MVH-Caribou administrator. “These cookies really do bring a smile to our residents’ faces as they are all familiar with Girl Scout cookies, and it is a great treat that can fit into most diets.”
