Bell named to dean’s list
KINGSTON, RI — The University of Rhode Island has announced that 4,042 undergraduates have qualified for the Spring 2012 Dean’s List. The students represent nearly all of Rhode Island’s cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, and many other states and nations.
    Among those on the list is Benjamin R Bell of Linneus. Bell received a PMD degree in pharmacy May 19. He graduated magna cum laude.
To be included on the Dean’s List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average.
Husson dean’s list
The following students from the Houlton Pioneer Times’ coverage area have been named to the Dean’s List at Husson University for the spring semester 2012. To be named to the Dean’s List, you must earn a 3.4 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Local grads at UMFK
FORT KENT — Four local residents were among those to receive degrees at the 130th commencement exercises at the University of Maine at Fort Kent this past weekend. University President Wilson G. Hess presided over the ceremony that conferred 139 bachelor degrees and 32 associate degrees.
Locals receiving their degrees were Jennifer Marie Bustard, associate of arts in criminal justice, from Smyrna; Thomas C. Brady, bachelor’s of science in nursing, from Sherman; Gregory S. Foster, associate of science in applied forest management, from Houlton; and Sarah Beasley Johnston, bachelor’s of science in nursing, from Houlton.
Ritchie honored
Southeastern Louisiana University has named 4,375 students to its honors list for the spring 2012 semester. Among those honored was Kimberly D. Ritchie of Houlton.
UMPI releases dean’s list for spring 2012
PRESQUE ISLE — Three hundred and nine students at the University of Maine at Presque have been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester, according to Dr. Michael Sonntag, provost and vice president for academic affairs.

Smith presented Rotary Youth Merit Award
Principal Marty Bouchard, left, of Houlton High School has announced the nomination of Alana Smith for the 2012 Rotary Youth Merit Award. Nominees for this award should exemplify the characteristics of service, dependability, and leadership. Smith now has an opportunity to compete against other recipients across Rotary District 7810 for scholarships in the amount of $1,000 or $500.  She is the daughter of Alan and Gretchen Smith.
