    In minor league baseball play Monday, July 16, Key Bank and NorState played to a 1-1 deadlock. Sam Beaulieu was the starting pitcher for Norstate and was relieved by Colby Buckley. Connor DeMerchant and Riley Roderick combined for the pitching duties for Key Bank.

    Lucas Hafford and Isaac Wipperman had two hits each for NorState and DeMerchant doubled and singled and knocked in a run for Key.

    That same day, County Federal Credit Union bested Katahdin Trust, 5-1, behind Austin Plourde’s 13 strikeouts on the mound. Cody Barnes, Chance Bragan and Plourde all had doubles for the victors.

    Nate Willette did the pitching for Katahdin Trust. He had two hits and Jacob Smith added a hit and an RBI.

    Later in the week, Katahdin Trust and Key Bank ended up in a 6-6 tie. Holden Stoutamyer paced the Key offense with a double and a single and an RBI. Ethan St. Jean and Tyler Turner contributed two RBIs each.

    For KT, Willette ripped an inside-the-park home run and Smith had a triple.

    Key Bank and CFCU also tied at three apiece. DeMerchant, Roderick and Jaden McDonald led the Key offense, while Barnes and Austin Prescott spearheaded the CFCU attack.

    In major league play, the Elks’ Thomas Patenaude had two singles and a double and Alexis Quevedo and Kyle Plourde both socked a triple and a single as they bested Rotary, 7-3. Jaren Winger doubled and singled for Rotary, while Adam Paterson had a triple and an RBI.

    Pony League action last week saw Fort Fairfield edge Cushman’s, 3-2. Cristian Nunez pitched well with 11 strikeouts to his credit and he also went 2 for 2 at the plate, but his Cushman’s squad fell short. Ben Buckley and Grant Bridges sparkled in the field for Cushman’s.

    Rod Brewer Design earned a 6-0 win over Washburn as Andrew Paterson went all six innings and fanned 13 for the shutout on the mound.

    RBD then met Mars Hill, with RBD easing to a 17-3 triumph. Kyle Rider went 3 for 4 and Josh Boucher drove in five runs and made a spectacular catch in the outfield.

    Cushman’s and Washburn met in a doubleheader and Cushman’s earned the sweep, 7-3 and 6-3. Ben Buckley had an inside-the-park homer and a double and drove in five runs in the opener. Nunez went the distance on the mound and Oliver Gerrish had two hits and two RBIs in the nightcap.
