TOMPKINS, Wilma Wiley, 78, PRESQUE ISLE, November 23, 2012. Calling hours celebrating her life will be held Friday, November 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at MoonDance Studios, Presque Isle.

    With great sadness, the family of Wilma Wiley Tompkins announces her death at TAMC on Friday, November 23, 2012.
    Wilma is survived by a sister, Clara (Wiley) Carter Hall of Florida; a brother, James Wiley of Arizona; three children, Leith Tompkins of Mapleton, Kim (Tompkins) Lauritsen of Mapleton and her husband, Jon Lauritsen, Laura Tompkins and her wife, Erin O’Shea of N.B., Canada; two grandsons, Travis Lauritsen and Jody O’Shea; and great-granddaughters, Makayla, Meg and Rose Lauritsen, and Alyssa Smith.
    Wilma was predeceased by her husband, Burton Tompkins Jr.; and her parents, Russell and Winifred Wiley.
    Originally from Monticello ME, Wilma graduated from Ricker High School in Houlton and Mount Ida College in Florida. She was a well-known county artist, leaving behind many beautiful oil and watercolor paintings of Maine. Wilma was a hairdresser, serving clients for many years from the shop in her Conant Road home.  Wilma loved playing tennis, gardening and watching all sports, especially the Olympics. She will be remembered by all for her kindness, love for animals, quickness to laugh and enjoyment of life.
    Calling hours celebrating Wilma’s life will be held Friday, Nov. 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at MoonDance Studios, 733 Main St., in Presque Isle. Donations in her honor may be made to The Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross St., Presque Isle, ME 04769.
