Easton loses town treasure
EASTON NEWS
by Debbie Smith
The community of Easton has lost a gifted historian, with the passing of Eldora Carter.
For years, she put words to use, documenting the activities of her hometown, from birthdays, anniversaries and deaths, to school plays, American Legion meetings, church events and senior gatherings — sharing the details in her weekly column in The Star-Herald. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor who left her mark not only in the newspaper but in the hearts of those who knew her.
On behalf of the residents of Easton and the staff at The Star-Herald, our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Eldora. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a very special person and always cheerful and very friendly. To all of her family, you will be in our thoughts and prayers.
NHS collecting clothing
The National Honor Society in Easton is collecting clothing for Catholic Charities. If you have any clothes you have outgrown or no longer want, please donate them to this great cause. You may drop off any clothing items at the Easton High School anytime during school hours. They would greatly appreciate it. Catholic Charities sells the clothing to buy items and food that they need to feed the hungry in Aroostook County. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
