Soccer players earn honors

    BANGOR — The Maine Soccer Coaches 39th All-Star Awards Banquet was held at Spectacular Event Center in Bangor and MacKenzie Worcester, a sophomore at Washburn District High School, was honored as the girls’ Class D player of the year.

    Other honorees were, Class A girls, Grace MacLean; Class A boys, Connor Reagan, Gorham; Class B girls, Caitlin Bucksbaum, Falmouth; Class B boys, J. P. White, Falmouth; Class C girls, Alexis Desjardins, Fort Kent; Class C boys, Ian Lee, Madawaska; and Class D boys, Tristan Richards, Greenville.

    The All-America selections were MacLean and White. Joining them as All-New England choices, were, for girls, Amanda Arnold of Thornton Academy, Maria Philbrick of Scarborough, Kaitlin Saulter of Hermon and Bucksbaum, and for boys, Reagan, Matt Saunders of Lawrence and James Fitzpatrick of Houlton.

    Mike Carlos, coach of the Houlton boys, was named Eastern Maine boys’ coach of they year.

    Regional all-star teams were recognized and the Eastern and Western Maine state teams were announced.

    Seven players from the local area made the girls’ EM state team. The list includes Olivia Sleeper of Caribou, Karlee Bernier and Chandler Guerrette, both of Presque Isle; Carla Halvorson of Easton, Logan Bubar of Fort Fairfield, and Carmen Bragg and Worcester, both of Washburn.

    Others on the squad are MacLean of Bangor, Paige Tetu of Brunswick, Lex Jimenex of Lewiston, Mackenzie Conlogue of Mt. Blue, Jessica Allen and Saulter, both of Hermon; Max McHugh of Central, Desjardins of Fort Kent, Alana Pratt of Houlton, Analies Ross-Dyjak of Orono and Parise Rossignol of Van Buren.

    Selected to the boys’ EM state team were Nate Bach and Dominic Vielleux, both of Bangor; Konnor Scarponi and Greg Walton, both of Brunswick; Saunders of Lawrence, Yusuf Yama of Lewiston, Josh Bean of Ellsworth, Audyn Curless of Mount Desert Island, Gabe Smith of Winslow, Fitzpatrick of Houlton, Lee of Madawaska, Matthew Cloutier  and Conor McKaig, both of Orono; Trevor Lyford of Penquis, and Ben Bragg and Rem Poulin, both of Bangor Christian.
