UMPI’s Manifold is ‘All-American’

PRESQUE ISLE — University of Maine-Presque Isle senior center Patrick Manifold has been named a United States Collegiate Athletic Association second team “All-American” in Division I.

The 6-foot-8 four-year starter from Great Yarmouth, United Kingdom averaged 17.9 points per game and pulled down 8.9 rebounds in 2012-13, leading the team in both categories. He helped lead the Owls to an eight-win improvement from last season.
“This honor is a result of Patrick’s dedication and hard work during his career at the University of Maine-Presque Isle,” said Owls’ head coach Jim Casciano. “He is one of the hardest workers that I ever coached at any level of basketball. He is most deserving of this recognition.”
Among some of Manifold’s highlights this season:
    • On Dec. 3, 2012, in the first half of what would be an 89-46 victory over UMaine-Augusta, Manifold scored his 1000th career point on a one handed dunk.
    • He scored 33 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a 70-68 loss to Eastern Nazerene on Jan. 21.
    • He poured in 31 points on 10-of16 shooting while recording 12 rebounds in leading the Owls to an 81-65 victory over Fisher College Feb. 3.
On the same day he was named to the All-American team, his name also appeared on the USCAA’s All-Academic Team.
