PRESQUE ISLE — It’s a new month, so it must be time for another First Friday Art Walk.
Visitors to downtown Presque Isle on April 5 will have an opportunity to view a variety of artistic endeavors, including the work of Martin Gallant, which will be featured at Wintergreen Arts Center on State Street.

“Martin is a self-taught artist who works in watercolors, acrylics and pastels. His subject matter ranges from coastal landscapes to the potato fields of Aroostook County,” said Wendy Gilman-Zubrick, Wintergreen’s executive director.
Gallant, of Caribou, explained why he’s drawn to such natural settings.
“The Maine landscape is rich in its variety, earth tones and rugged beauty. There is a solitude imbued in the rocks, fields and forests that help define the independence that Mainers take pride in,” noted Gallant.
Gilman-Zubrick said the artist’s work is derived from photographs and other sources.
“Marty works from his own photographs, still lifes and imagination. Painting keeps him busy, as does his job as guidance director at Caribou High School. Past works have included portraits and murals,” said Gilman-Zubrick.
For more information, Gallant can be reached at 498-2044.
