Ronald D. Ouellette DC, C.C.A.c. was a special guest speaker for the Matter of Balance classes at Market Square Commons on Oct. 9. His presentation covered the benefits of balanced nutrition, exercise, chiropractic care, and acupuncture for maintaining optimum health and thereby minimizing the loss of stability due to weak legs, circulatory issues and inner ear problems which can cause vertigo and loss of balance.
The human body seeks wellness through the process of homeostasis. As Dr. Ouellette put it with respect to exercise, “The body is a jealous machine, what you do to one side you also must do to the other side or an imbalance of muscle strength will occur. “
Dr. Ouellette brought with him a computerized analysis system known as MEAD (Meridian Energy Analysis Device). The MEAD was developed in Taiwan as a means of detecting the energy function of the 12 main meridians utilized in traditional Chinese medicine. Five students in the Matter of Balance class volunteered to be scanned and all present were impressed by the painless evaluation and individualized results.
Dr. Ouellette recently added acupuncture as an adjunct in his office. With the passing of Casey White who provided acupuncture in the southern Aroostook area, a great need was left unavailable to the people of the area. Many traveled to Bangor to seek out acupuncturists in that area, often seeing Dr. Zev Myerowitz who is Dr. Ouellette’s mentor and instructor and has practiced acupuncture for 35 years and teaches nationally.
Dr. Ouellette has practiced chiropractic for 25 years and for 19 of those years has been in Houlton. His office is located at 49 Court Street. For more information on natural ways of regaining and maintaining health, call 207-521-0296.
