Holiday guests of Susan Prescott have been her daughter-in-law, Claire Prescott and grandchildren, Brian and Amy Prescott, who hail from Virginia; and her son, Tim, who lives in the County. They all attended the Christmas Eve service, at the Whittier Congregational Church.
On Christmas Eve afternoon Clayton and Charlene Webb were on their way to Bangor to spend Christmas with niece, Darlene Kenny and family. When they got beyond Benedicta, their car hit some black ice and they slid out of the road. Fortunately, they were just badly shaken but not injured, but the car had quite a bit of damage done.
I had to have my yard plowed again this month as we got quite a bit of snow. I am kept real busy mixing up my peanut butter and lard mixture to keep the birds happy. They all seem to really like it and it is gone quite quickly after I spread it out on the cedar limbs. I have two gray squirrels who really have fun eating the sunflower seeds — hanging by their toes upside down to get at it. The little red squirrels watch carefully, but from a distance. I throw out breadcrumbs for them to munch on when the bigger squirrels are there.
My neighbor’s cat is still arriving each day at the barn looking for the meat scraps I leave there for it. She is well fed at home but enjoys food anytime, I’m sure. No deer tracks lately, but maybe when it (and if) it gets warmer.
