Kiwanis Club president Dawn Poitras, along with fellow Kiwanians Kathie Beaulieu, Michelle Cushman, Sherry Locke, Tammy Lovely and AJ Cloukey, presented committee members with the pledge Feb. 19. Local Kiwanians are volunteers who take on projects for numerous causes. One such fundraiser, the annual Vegas Fever to be held March 14 and 15 at the Shrine Building on the Houlton Road, will see all of its proceeds go toward the community center campaign.
“We are thrilled with the generous pledge of support,” said Mike Chasse, a campaign committee members and city councilor. “This is a fantastic group of dedicated, selfless volunteers who tirelessly work to better our community and we sincerely appreciate their contribution to the community center.
“I hope everyone in the community comes out to the Vegas Fever event,” he added. “It’s sure to be a great time.”
Sherry Locke, a Kiwanian and chairperson for Vegas Fever, said supporting the community center project “was a natural fit for our organization.”
“Kiwanis is all about serving children and that is exactly what the community center does,” Locke said. “Together, we can build on our history as a strong, tight-knit community providing a bright future for our youth by supporting important projects like this one.”
