CARIBOU – Joseph David Martin, 96, died February 22, 2014, at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. He was born in Fort Kent, the son of the late David and Annie (Laferriere) Martin.
He attended school in Fort Kent and served with the U.S. Army during WW II in the European Theatre. Joseph spent most of his life in construction and forestry. He owned and operated his business in New Jersey for a number of years prior to returning to Northern Maine. He was a member of the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Mr. Martin was predeceased by his wife, Therese (Bush) Martin, and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children, Donna Martin of New Jersey, Aleen Guttormsen, Catherine Martin and Tammy Martin, all of New Jersey, David Jay Martin and Keith Bush, both of South Carolina; two brothers, James and David Martin; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Mildred Martin of Eagle Lake; and special family friends, David and Denise Bell of Caribou.
