CARIBOU, Maine — Officials at the City of Caribou announced the hiring of Caribou native Christina Kane-Gibson as the new events and marketing coordinator.

Kane-Gibson is a 1997 graduate of Caribou High School, a 2001 graduate of Boston University and spent 11 years working in promotions and marketing for the FOX-owned television station in Austin, Texas. Since 2014 she has been the public information officer for the City of Hutto, Texas.

“I am so excited to be back home,” Kane-Gibson said. “I’ve loved my time in Texas, but Caribou is where we want to be. During the past two years I worked closely with the Hutto downtown manager and earned a true appreciation for community-supported events as a key to economic vitality.

“With top-notch promotion and strategic marketing, we can enhance the economic base of Caribou and The County, and have a ton of fun in the process,” she noted.

Kane-Gibson is also working on her certified public communicator designation from Texas Christian University. As part of her course work, she will prepare a strategic communications plan for Caribou, which will include city-specific internal, external, event and crisis communications frameworks.

“This plan will help further the city’s communication efforts with a strategy tailored to the needs of Caribou,” Kane-Gibson explained. “I’m shooting for a completion deadline of July 2017 and will be turning to staff, Council and residents for information and feedback. This is a project  that I am passionate about and I am very excited to work with you.”

Kane-Gibson, her husband, John, and sons Dean, 7, and Jack, 4, are excited to be a part of the Caribou community.

A welcome reception will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Caribou Wellness Center multipurpose rooms. Members of the community are invited to come and connect. Light refreshments will be served.
