DANFORTH, Maine — Danforth Habilitation Residential Center clients and staff hosted a free “Eclipse Party” for members of the community Monday, Aug. 21.
More than 65 people attended the event. The party included free eclipse glasses (60 pairs were distributed), games, face painting, trophies, a dunk chair, snacks and live entertainment by Paul LaPointe.
Snacks included such themed foods and drinks as: Sunkist soda, Sunmaid raisins, Sunny D, eclipse cookies, sun and moon donut holes, Moon Pies, Sun Chips and Capri Sun.
An educational table was also set up which included a working model of an eclipse. Games included: Knock out the Sun (the dunk chair), Cover the Sun (a beanbag game), Shoot the Moon (a target game), Pin the Moon on the Sun and an eclipse word search puzzle. 72 participation trophies and ribbons were awarded to game participants.
