Human resource group slates annual conference

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine –The Northeast Society for Human Resource Management will host the 21st annual Human Resource Conference on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle.

The event will take place in the Edmunds Conference Center from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and is designed for personnel from small businesses all the way up to large corporations, including small business owners, managers, supervisors, executives and human resource professionals.

 Topics will include “Drive Business Success with Workplace Flexibility” with Daniel Griffiths, northeast director of the national Society for Human Resource Management; “Leveraging Engagement for Enhanced Employee Retention” with David Pease, Bangor Savings Bank senior vice president and director of human resources; “The Power of Networking” with Amie Parker, SHRM Maine State Council director and director of human resources for the University of Maine System; and “Conflict Resolution in the Workplace” with Lois Flewelling.

 The day will end with a live auction with Bert Winslow, auctioneer.  Proceeds will benefit the SHRM Foundation and NESHRM Scholarship Fund.

Lunch will be provided to seminar attendees and various vendors will feature displays.  The registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 15.   

 This conference offers 4 credit hours, meeting the HRCI criteria for recertification credit pre-approval.

NESHRM chapter meetings are generally held bi-monthly at 7:30 a.m. at NMCC’s Edmunds Conference Center in Presque Isle. Programs and speakers address pertinent HR management and legislative issues and are open to anyone who has an interest in human resources.
