Atoms hockey team wins state title

KENTS HILL, Maine — The Presque Isle Youth Hockey Atoms team (ages 9-10) captured the state championship during a tournament held March 9-11.

The team had advanced to represent the northern conference after going undefeated at 5-0 during a tourney in Waterville Feb. 23 and 24.

At the state tournament over the weekend, the PI Atoms again won all five games they played. The squad defeated the Casco Bay Predators in overtime in the semifinals, 3-2, and the championship game against the SAM Blue team from Augusta resulted in a 5-3 victory for Presque Isle.

The state champion team was coached by Danny Davenport, Bob Davis and Jason Woollard. Team members are Logan Caron, Phineas Cunningham, Bailey Davenport, Gage Dyer, Isaac Gillen, Phil Hubacher, Gavin LeTourneau, Olivia Levesque, Noah Parmelee, Charlie Peers, Ean Roy, Jonah Tweedie, Logan Wing, Ollie Woollard and Lucas Wood.
