Brewer retires from Barresi Financial

Nancy Brewer, after a 40 plus year career in finance, will retire from Barresi Financial Inc.

Nancy started her career at Cary Medical Center in 1966. “I realized pretty quickly that I did not want to be a nurse and left to work at the Tastee Freeze car hop, which was much more fun.” said Brewer.  Eventually she ended up working for the telephone company as a switchboard operator.

In 1971, Nancy went to work for the Northern National Bank and over the years worked in a variety of positions. “I ended up working for four banks without ever moving my desk, as Northern National became Casco Northern, which became Bank of Boston, and eventually Key Bank.” For most of those years, Nancy worked as Vice President and Trust officer in the Trust Department. “ I enjoyed the people I worked with and the clients and ended up working for the banks for 29 years.”

In 2002, she joined Barresi Financial as a Retirement Plan Administrator and helped the firm become a leading retirement plan provider in the state. “Working in a small business with great people while it was growing was one of the most rewarding things I was able to do in my working career.” says Brewer. “It has been a tough decision to retire.”

After 16 years at Barresi Financial, and after 50 years of work, Nancy will now move on to the next phase and spend time with her husband Jim, her daughter Kristi, her son and daughter in law, Chad and Lisa, and her beautiful granddaughters Mia and Ava and of course her dogs.

“ We will certainly miss her bright and sunny attitude, her attention to detail, and her sense of humor. It is very rare to hear her on the phone with a client and not hear both of them laughing about something.” says financial representative Scott Violette.

“Fortunately, Nancy has agreed to stay on part time for the near future while we search for and hire a new service/sales position and will remain on to help train that new person.” says President Nate Berry. “ I still feel like I want to be connected to the employees and clients and ease my way into retirement, and if I can help them replace me with a new employee, even better!” says Brewer.

Barresi Financial Inc. provides an array of employee benefits, retirement plans, insurance and financial products and services.  They provide services to more than 300 group clients and 3500 individuals, while managing over $200 million in assets.
