WATERVILLE, Maine — Sidney Tawfall, 12-year-old daughter of Liz and Eric Tawfall of Presque Isle, earned the championship trophy for her age division in the Maine Elks Association’s Soccer Shoot penalty kicking contest, hosted on Sunday, Oct. 6, by the Waterville Elks Lodge.

In order to qualify to compete in the state championship, Sidney had won in the 11- and 12-year-old age division at the local lodge Soccer Shoot, hosted by the Presque Isle Elks Lodge 1954 on Sept. 22 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.  She also achieved the first-place award at the Maine North District Soccer Shoot, held in Ellsworth on Sept. 29.

She received a trophy and commemorative soccer ball for her championship performance in Waterville.

As her age level’s Maine Soccer Shoot champion, Tawfall is now eligible to compete in the Region I Elks Soccer Shoot penalty kicking contest, to be held in North Kingston, Rhode Island, from Nov. 1 through Nov. 3.
