PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A person associated with Presque Isle High School has tested positive for COVID-19, but the school plans to remain open.

In a letter to the district, SAD 1 superintendent Ben Greenlaw said that 33 students and three staff members have begun 10-day isolations in accordance with the Maine CDC’s guidelines and plan to return to school Feb. 12. The person who tested positive was last in the high school on Feb. 1.

“We have the appropriate number of substitute staff members to cover those who are considered close contacts,” Greenlaw said.

The latest announcement from SAD 1 comes just more than a week after close contacts of people from Zippel and PIHS who tested positive went into isolation.
