MARS HILL, Maine — Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School of Mars Hill has announced the honor parts for the class of 2021.
The valedictorian is Maddison Coffin and the salutatorian is Amy Gerritsen. The first honor essayist is Stetson Nicholas and the second honor essayist is Joshua Dahl.
Coffin is the daughter of Chris and Stephanie Coffin of Mars Hill.
She has held membership in the National Honor Society, Math Team and FFA. Maddison has played varsity soccer and softball throughout high school career, earning her varsity letter in both sports. She has been recognized for her academic efforts, earning awards in biology, geometry, earth science, English and Spanish.
She has earned an honor cord by making the honor roll each quarter of high school. Coffin volunteered at multiple events with the senior planning center. She also volunteered with Feeding the County.
Next year she will attend the University of Maine to study biology.
Gerritsen is the daughter of James and Megan Gerritsen of Bridgewater.
She has been a member of the National Honor Society, serving as president of the chapter. She worked on the yearbook staff and also participated in chorus throughout high school. She has played varsity soccer for four years and been part of Central Aroostook’s cheering team, winning three state championships.
Gerritsen has been chosen as twice as Student of the Month at CAHS. She earned academic awards in English, Spanish and biology. She has earned an honor cord by making the honor roll each quarter of high school.This year Amy was chosen as the recipient of the Maine Principal’s Award from Central Aroostook High School. She has served her community by volunteering with the Bridgewater recreation department and at the annual junior high cheering competition.
She plans to attend Husson University in the fall to study occupational therapy.
Stetson Nicholas is the son of Christopher and Kristy Nicholas of Blaine.
He has been a three-sport athlete, playing golf, basketball and baseball. He was chosen for all-Aroostook golf team each season. Stetson was a 2020 Aroostook League Champion for gold.
He was honored academically, earning awards in precalculus and college algebra. He has earned an honor cord by making the honor roll each quarter of high school.
Nicholas will join the U.S. Air Force to work in aircraft electrical and environmental systems.
Joshua Dahl is the son of James Dahl of Bridgewater and May Williams of California.
He is a member of the CAHS National Honor Society. He has participated in varsity soccer, basketball and baseball.
He has earned an honor cord by making the honor roll each quarter of high school. Josh has volunteered for Catholic Charities, Wilderness Day Camp and Living Waters Camp.
Next year he will attend the University of Maine to study mechanical engineering technology.
