Scouts attend spring Camporee

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Scout Troop 171 of Presque Isle attended the Pioneering Spring Camporee at Trafton Lake in Limestone June 4-6.

The camporee events were based on knot tying, pioneering, fire building, cooking and other events.

Troop 171 took first place in the rapids crossing competition and the friction bridge competition.

Attending were Scouts Jared Coty, Carter Daggett, Bryce Plourde and Chase Plourde. Adults attending were Tom Peary, Scoutmaster; Mark Plourde, committee chairman; Dave Berry Sr.; Gerald Coty; Christy Roix Daggett; Jonathan Daggett; and Lisa Plourde.

Troop 171 is sponsored by the Men’s Club of the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church and meets Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the building at the far end of the church parking lot.
