From the Bunkers – Week of September 15, 2021

It is starting to feel like fall out there, but I’m still hoping for some warm summer days in the next few weeks! Over Labor day weekend we held the Babe Caron Memorial Tournament. On Friday night the one-club challenge was played and the winners were Kevin and Ben Tuttle.

On Saturday, first place went to Kyle Bouchard and Keegan Hyland; second place was Gabe Goodwin and Mike Weston; third place was Logan Holmes and Luke Pollack; fourth, Marty Bouchard and Matt Carroll; and fifth, Jim Quirk and Eric Dubay.

On Sunday, first place went to Misty Marino and Sarah Moody; second, Chris Bell and Ryan Bushey; third, Logan Holmes and Luke Pollack; fourth, Drew Marino and Jason Renaud; and fifth, Andrew Peabody and Isaac Baietti.

Great golf was played this weekend, and fun was had by everyone in attendance.

The next event on our schedule is the Annual Ryan Wright Memorial Scramble on Saturday, Sept. 18. This is a fun, 18-hole, two-person scramble that supports a great cause. The entry fee is $50 per person and all money goes toward cash prizes. There will also be an opportunity to donate to the Ryan Wright Scholarship Fund at registration. Please call the clubhouse at 207-532-2662 to sign up your team. On Sunday 9/26 we will convert our course into a Par 3 course for our Cross Country Par 3, this is a fantastic event allowing you to play HCGC like you never have before.

In our quest to recognize the many valuable volunteers that HCGC is so fortunate to have, we’d like to give mention to all of the people that showed up for volunteer day on Saturday, Aug. 28. Among those in attendance were Brent Lincoln, Randy Lincoln, Daniel Peabody, John Randall, Jerry York, Adelaide York, Asa York, Jamie York, Damon Stone, Jim Wright, Dave Socoby, Doug Griffin, Tammy Griffin, Danny Williams, Skip Cleary and Gary Severson. Thank you all for your help picking up sticks, mowing and string trimming between the pine trees on both sides of the No. 2 fairway and between No. 6 and No. 7 fairways. It looks great!

The Lakeside Restaurant has changed to their fall hours. It is open for lunch Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dinner schedule is Wednesday-Saturday, 4-8 (last seating). Sunday Brunch is from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (last seating). Please call Nancy at 207-694-9494 to book your reservation.
