The Mapleton Daze Committee held their first holiday shopping event for young kids on Saturday, Dec. 11.
Young people brought their parents, grandparents and family members to the Mapleton Lions Hall, where the Mapleton Daze “elves” helped them purchase inexpensive but fun presents for their family members.
At the Mapleton Lions Hall, the Mapleton Daze shopping event for kids was held, where kids found tables of gift items they could purchase for their family members. Mapleton Daze “elves” were glad to help them choose and wrap their gifts.

When the kids arrived, they found many items on display with prices ranging from 50 cents to under $5. The elves helped the little ones shop and provided a wrapping station with free wrapping of the gift items.
While kids and parents were waiting to do their shopping, the elves provided free activities for them such as making an ornament/picture frame, eating popcorn, and picking a goodie bag to take home. The elves were happy to volunteer their help with this event. Even some who are in high school earned community service hours for their volunteer help to make this event a success.
With the help of the Mapleton Daze volunteer elves, kids at the Mapleton Daze kids holiday shopping event were able to make special candy cane magical raindeer.

The group also collected non-perishable food items and paper goods donations for the Mapleton Community Cupboard.
Mapleton Daze Committee members Lynnelle Foster and Laurie Boucher said, “Thank you all who came out for the kids shopping event. Fun was had by all. We think we have started a new tradition for the holidays in Mapleton.”
While waiting to make purchases at the Mapleton Daze kids holiday shopping spree, kids and parents were able to make a Christmas ornament, picture frame or decorative items.
