Future Business Leaders of America donates convention funds to Shriners Hospital

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Future Business Leaders of America donated $2,000 to the Shriners Hospital, accepted by Shawn Lahey, local Anah Shrine representative.

Back in 2020 when COVID-19 hit, the FBLA students at the time were not able to attend their convention in Portland. The seniors in that class had raised almost $2,000 to pay for their registration costs and decided that it would be charitable to donate it to a deserving cause.  

The seniors who graciously donated their money were; Colby Bonville, Harleigh Brewer, Catherine Butterfield, Ethan Cassidy, Kacie Chapman, Meghann Collins, Taylor Hedrich, Gavin Hemphill, Alana Legassie, Libby Moreau, Austin Plourde, Rebecca Rider, Riley Roderick, Alec Staples and Anna Trombley.

The organization inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.  FBLA programs focus on leadership development, academic competitions, educational programs, membership benefits, community service, and awards/recognition.

The group is advised by Kimberly Hemphill, whose four sons participated in FBLA while they attended Presque Isle High School.
