Ark Animal Sanctuary – Week of March 16, 2022

Clara is a cat that came to the Ark Animal Sanctuary last summer. She was living in a feral cat colony here in town, but it is not clear how Clara ended up there because she was a very friendly cat.

Unfortunately Clara was not spayed and was reproducing at an alarming speed. We are not sure how many litters she had, but when she was live trapped and brought to The Ark she came with a kitten who was about 9-10 weeks old and she was already pregnant again.

The kitten that she came in with, who we named sweet pea, was injured and required immediate vet care. A few weeks after Clara arrived she delivered 4 tiny kittens all of whom were bob tails. Sweet Pea was also a bob tail. Clara was an awesome mom, she took the best care of her babies and she was very protective of them.

At 8 weeks old  all of Clara’s kittens, with the exception of sweet pea, were adopted. Sweet Pea still has some trust issues with humans, but we are working on that. Clara was spayed, tested and vaccinated and now it was her turn to find the perfect home.

Eight months after she arrived At The Ark, she found her “furever” home. After living out in the elements for who knows how long with no food, shelter or vet care, having litter after litter Clara has finally found a safe place in this world. A place where she will be loved and well taken care of, a place where she will never have to worry about anything ever again.

We will miss you Clara but we are so happy for you. We are honored to have been a part of your journey. Live your best life Clara you deserve it. Thank you for your continued support and as always thank you for reading our column.
