Aroostook Savings & Loan names new president and CEO

Aroostook Savings & Loan Board of Directors has announced Curt Paterson as their new president and CEO, succeeding the late John S. Swanberg who passed away last December. Vicki Keaton, vice president of operations will continue to serve as interim president until Paterson assumes his new role effective May 15.

After a few months’ search, facilitated by the Association’s Board of Director’s search committee, Paterson has been selected to lead Aroostook Savings & Loan’s team through its next stage of growth. Paterson currently serves as the chief financial officer for The County Federal Credit Union.

Paterson brings with him over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry serving Aroostook County. He launched Paterson Payroll, Inc. in 2003, which he grew to 140 payroll business customers and over 400 tax preparation and record keeping customers. After selling his business to Farm Credit East in 2015 and managing the service for two years, he joined The County Federal Credit Union in 2017 as its CFO.

Expressing his enthusiasm and honor for his new role, Curt stated, “My career’s foundation has been to assist people, whether they are clients or employees. I have always worked hard to lead in a way that empowers others to succeed. I believe that my aspirations align with those of Aroostook Savings & Loan in their commitment to helping local businesses and the people of our communities thrive.” 

The Association’s Board Chair Norman Collins, also expressed his confidence in Paterson’s wealth of experience and deep commitment to Aroostook County and the Association’s mission and culture, saying that it puts him in an ideal position to continue to build upon their growth and success as their next leader. “On behalf of the Association’s Board, management, and staff, we offer our sincere congratulations to Curt and look forward to Aroostook Savings & Loan’s next chapter,” Collins added.

Paterson earned his associates in accounting at Northern Maine Community College, and his bachelor of science in Accounting from Husson University.  He is a member of the Area Management Team for the Special Olympics. He resides in Mapleton with his wife Elizabeth “Bethany” and has three sons, Andrew, Adam, and Cole.
