New Dealership Will Open – A new automobile dealership will be in business in Houlton next week when E. A. The Lincoln dealership will cover all of Aroostook County, Mr. Grant stated, and the Mercury dealership will include the same territory with the exception of Presque Isle and Caribou. It is planned to handle a complete line of Lincoln and Mercury parts and Ford products, Mr. Grant said, in addition to Richfield gasoline and oil.

New Fire Truck Can Save Town Over $30,000 A Year – One of the items to be considered by the voters at the Town meeting Monday will be the purchase of two new trucks for the Houlton Fire Department. The cost of the combination pumper-tank trucks, fully equipped, will be about $88,000 of this amount, $67,000 is being requested from the Federal Revenue Sharing funds, and the balance of $21,000 is to be taken from an existing capital reserve fund. Because no tax monies are being requested for the fire trucks, their purchase will not affect the taxes paid by Houlton residents. If purchased, it could save property owners upwards of $30,000 a year in fire insurance premiums.
