First open-air band concert — The first open-air band concert given by the Juvenile Bank took place on the B. & A. Lawn. There was a large number of listeners and cars surrounding the grounds, and the lawn was also thronged with people, outside of those who came in cars, many of them from quite a distance. The selections given were finely rendered, and elicited much applause, this being particularly true of the cornet solos given by Harry Downing, 16 year son of Mr. Ned Downing. The music rendered by the boys indicated that they have made remarkable progress, and the boys’ band was an institution which ought to be encouraged in the most generous manner by all public spirited citizens.
