HODGDON, Maine — Gracie Little, daughter of Shawn and Melissa Little of Hodgdon. has been selected to receive the 2025 Maine Principal’s Award for Hodgdon Middle/High School. Little has excelled in academic and athletics during her time at Hodgdon Middle/High School. She is a four-year varsity athlete in soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball. Little’s achievements go far beyond the athletic fields as she will also receive an associates degree in liberal studies from the University of Maine at Presque Isle along with her high school diploma this spring.
Little’s ability to challenge herself academically has made for an outstanding example for her peers and a mentor to many other student-athletes on how to excel on and off the field. Little has also served as the student representative to the SAD 70 School Board, secretary for the National Honor Society, president of Student Council and earned her CNA license.

The Maine Principal’s Award goes to a senior each year from each high school in the state. The award is for the senior student who shows exceptional academic achievement, community service, leadership in the classroom, in the community and on athletic teams. The winner attended a statewide luncheon in Brewer on April 5 to be recognized and had an opportunity to receive one of 10 $1,000 scholarships.
The honors are plentiful for Little but her most important achievement is her impact on the culture of Hodgdon Middle/High School. Her empathy toward others, leadership among the student body and her dedication to her community is why we are proud to have her represent Hodgdon Middle/High School with this statewide achievement.
