VAN BUREN, Maine — The port of entry connecting Van Buren and St. Leonard, New Brunswick, will be temporarily closed to vehicles next month due to construction, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The closure, which is due to construction taking place on du Pont Street in St. Leonard, will begin June 9 at 6 a.m. and is expected to finish by 10 p.m on June 11.
Some vehicle traffic will open after this, but commercial trucks will not be allowed back on the road for another three to five days.
The Van Buren port will remain open throughout the construction for both pedestrians and public inquiries.
“All vehicular travelers are advised to plan appropriately and route their travels to either the Port of Madawaska, located 25 miles to the north, or the Port of Hamlin, which is located 10 miles to the south,” the agency said in a press release on Thursday.
