Fish River Rural Health plans annual family fair

Fish River Rural Health is rolling out a celebration that families will not want to miss as it hosts its annual Family Health Fair, bringing together family-friendly, free activities, health information, preventive screenings, giveaways and plenty of reasons for children and adults to smile.

The event is slated from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 10 Carter Street Campus, Eagle Lake.

Held during National Health Center Week, Aug. 2–8, the annual event celebrates the important role community health centers play in providing care close to home and highlights the people and services that help local families stay healthy.

From the moment families arrive, the fair will offer something to see, try, learn and enjoy.  Adult fairgoers will have an opportunity to have preventive health screening performed.

For children, the morning will feature a bouncy house, “dunk-a-doc” and an obstacle course to keep them moving, laughing and cheering each other on.  Free bicycle helmets are available for children 12 or younger, while supplies last.  Children can sign up for a chance to win a brand new bike.

Families can enjoy a healthy snack and enter drawings for sponsored donations and prizes, making the morning both useful and memorable.

One of the day’s most anticipated stops will be the health center’s teddy bear clinic, where children can turn their favorite stuffed animal into a patient and see health care in a fun, gentle and approachable way.

Young visitors can bring a cuddly friend for a check-up of the heart, eyes, teeth, and back while learning how FRRH’s health care teams work together to support whole-person care.

Team Fish River will feature its unique, integrated health services: medical, behavioral health, dental, optometry, specialty foot care, nutrition, wellness and chiropractic, along with updates on new services being added in 2026 and 2027.

Fish River Rural Health invites families to join them for this event. With free activities, helpful screenings, family prizes and friendly faces throughout the fair, this is more than a health event — it is a chance to celebrate local healthcare workers, connect with neighbors and leave with new information, new smiles and maybe even a new bike.
