The National Weather Service is warning drivers in Aroostook to be wary of freezing drizzle that is coating roadways from Houlton to Fort Kent in advance of the snow storm.

“The freezing drizzle may quickly coat roadways with a thin layer of ice that may be undetectable,” according to the alert issued at 11:21 a.m. Thursday. “Please use extreme caution, especially on bridges, overpasses and around curves. Allow plenty of stopping distance and avoid braking suddenly.”

The warning indicates that affected roads include Interstate 95 between mile markers 258 and 304, U.S. Route 1 between Danforth and Fort Kent, and Route 11 between Stacyville and Fort Kent.
