The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met at 5:30 on April 2 in the Parish Center for their monthly meeting.  There were nine members present and Deacon Al and a guest, Pam Rice.

After our opening prayer, salute to the cross and flag and hymn, Deacon Al said a blessing and we enjoyed a luncheon prepared by the April committee.

President Sue Hardy led the business meeting.  Secretary Kathy Klein read the minutes of the March meeting.  Treasurer Jane Mitchell gave the treasurer’s report. Alta Reardon, corresponding secretary, read a thank you from the St. Patrick’s Bazaar committee.

Jane Stile, historian, noted that on April 17, 1985, St. Mary’s celebrated the 25th anniversary of the new church building.  She also informed us that HCCW of Houlton will have its 80th anniversary in October of this year.

Plans for our annual banquet were discussed and we will have a final decision at our May meeting.

The April baby shower for the Pregnancy Care Center will continue for the month.  A cradle has been placed in the back of the church so parishioners can also participate. Charlene Tabb will make a sign for that purpose.

The MDCCW annual meeting will be held in Pittsfield on April 28.

In May, Rosary at the nursing homes will be led by Jane Mitchell and Alta Reardon.

Charlene Tabb will continue to update the HCCW website.

Birthdays and anniversaries for April were noted. Jane Stile won the door prize.

Prayer intentions were gathered and we closed with a decade of the Rosary.

Our next meeting will be at 5:30 on May 7, 2018 in the Parish Center. All Catholic ladies are invited to attend.
